Magna cum laude graduate of the Sint Lucas Antwerpen class of ’99, Ben Boliau (°1975) has a background in illustration, but quickly found his way as a graphic designer with the pioneering webdesigners’ outfit Amphion sometime during the early noughties. A good fifteen years later, after some successful stints as graphic designer, copywriter, art director and partner at several creative agencies, Ben is now co-creative director of the Antwerp based Mirror Mirror — not coincidentally the studio responsible for the Integrated 2015 and Integrated 2017 visual identities.
Ben teaches graphic design and illustration at St Lucas Antwerp and is an avid advocate of giving alumni the stage during the YONN part of the conference he will be hosting for the fourth time in a row. He is a science-fiction movie buff and part time video gamer. A passion for apparel & street wear led him to designing pieces for cult apparel brands such as VIER Antwerp, Lockwood and Vans. As self-proclaimed connoisseur of Dirty Southern rap music, he can be occasionally spotted putting mixtapes together —and deejaying at Integrated after parties— under the guise of Crunkle Ben’s.
Ben will moderate the YONN lectures together with Laura Broux.
